Theodore Howard "Ted" Woods

     Theodore Howard "Ted" Woods, age 96, of Alma, MI, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023.

     A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2024.  Burial will follow at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

     Theodore was born in Newark Township, MI on July 20, 1927, the son of William and Mary Helen (Duvall) Woods.  Ted served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater.  He earned an Associate’s Degree from Northwood University.  He married Betty Ruth Mills on September 17, 1988, in St. Louis, MI.  They were blessed with twenty-three years of marriage, prior to her passing on February 16, 2012.

     Ted raised and sold produce after retirement, he was a gentleman farmer. Ted was well known for being at the Farmer's Market and Flea Market.  He worked as an Insurance Agent for Metropolitan and Western Reserve.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. 

     He is survived by his sons: Gary and Carol Woods, Terry and Dawn Woods, Rick and Julie Woods; step-daughter Shirley and Gary Mikesell; step-son-in-law Mark Edgar; step-son Randy and Becky Wolfe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Melvin Woods.  Ted is also survived by many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, step-daughter Patty Edgar, granddaughter Jennifer Ritter, and siblings: Dora, Fred, David Lee, Maxine and Alma.
