Therese Blasen

Therese Ann Blasen, age 93, of Ovid, MI, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.  Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Therese was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 8, 1928, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Lynch) Sommer.  Therese married Clarence Joseph Blasen on March 6, 1948 in Lansing, Michigan.  They celebrated 61 years of marriage before Clarence passed away on July 6, 2009.

Therese loved crocheting and needle point.  She enjoyed sharing her afghans and homemade crafts with family and friends.  She was known for her homemade cookies she baked without a timer.  She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother who was always there for her family.

She is survived by her children: Stanley Blasen of Holt, MI; Russell Blasen of Ovid, MI; Barbara Blasen of Lansing, MI; Floyd Blasen of Lansing, MI; Rose Blasen of Haslett, MI; Roger Blasen of Ovid, MI.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, one brother Raymond and Marge Sommer of St. Louis, MO, sisters in law: Irene Smith of Holland, MI and Anna Blasen of St. Johns, MI.   Therese was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert Joseph, daughter Susan (Floyd) Stevenson, granddaughter Joyce Davis, and 5 siblings: Kathleen (Bob) Jones, Edward (Ila) Sommer, Dorothy (Lee) Anderson, Gerald (Jeanette) Sommer, and James (Joann) Sommer.
