Thomas Leo Gehringer, age 68, of Elsie, MI passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare Owosso, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, MI, on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Edwin Snook officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 4-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Elsie, MI.
Thomas was born in Dearborn, Michigan on December 21, 1942, the son of Claude and Catherine (Huver) Gehringer. He attended Fowlerville Community Schools. He graduated with the class of 1961. Tom married Jeanne M. Metcalf on December 24, 1961 in Okemos.
Tom was a lifelong farmer. Tom was an avid bow hunter. He was a member of Thorny Acres Sportsman Club and the Elsie United Methodist Church. He had a fondness for all animals. Tom enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Gehringer of Elsie, MI, 4 children; Tom C. and Denise Gehringer of Perry, MI, Pat Gehringer of Elsie, MI, Katharine and Ken Hehrer of Ovid, MI, Joanne and Dominic Willett of Grand Rapids, MI, 8 grandchildren; Adam, Makenna, Brandon, Meghan, Sarah, Brooklyn, Dempsey and Ronin, mother Catherine Gehringer of Lowell, MI, 1 brother Richard and Linda Gehringer of Dayton, OH, 1 sister Karen and Barry Andrus of Ada, MI and many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his father and an infant daughter.
