Thomas E. Morgan Sr., age 80, of Flint, MI passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 1:30 PM. Pastor Don Mullins and Pastor Don Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 24, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
Thomas was born in Trenton, Tennessee on May 28, 1930, the son of Noah and Amie (Ray) Morgan. Thomas married Janette Bliss on August 6, 1952 in Angola, IN. Thomas resided most of his life in Morrice, MI.
Tom retired from General Motors Flint Truck and Bus Plant after 36 years. He assisted in the assembly and design of the first corvettes manufactured. Tom enjoyed camping, fishing with his best friend, Larry and anything outdoors, especially reminiscing at the campfire. He was a member of the NCHA. Tom served his country in the US Army; he was wounded in Korea in combat and awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of Living Witness Ministries of Flint, MI.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 57 years Janette Morgan of Flint, MI, 3 daughters; Debra Morgan of Mt. Morris, MI, Judy and Tim Mahlow of Jacksonville, NC, Raenae and Glenn Beverly of Owosso, MI, son Thomas and Reinie Morgan of Owosso, MI, 8 grandchildren; James (Kammi), Danny (Bri), Zack (Livie), Jaycee (Josh), Jordan, Josh, Maigen, and Andrew, 2 great-grandchildren; Thomas and Alex, sister Mary, and brother Asa. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Pete, Noah, Lewis, Robert, Bill, and Hulon, and sisters; Gladys and Corene.
