Thomas Ellsworth Rempp age 83, of Elwell, MI passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center – Gratiot, Alma, MI with his family at his side.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor George Showers officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Thomas was born in Carson City, MI on October 17, 1934 the son of Thomas O. and Mary Catherine (Brecht) Rempp.  He graduated from Fulton High School with the class of 1952.  He served in the National Guard.  On June 12, 1955 Tom married Sheila Ondrus at her parents' home near Carson City.

In 1954 Tom began working for Leonard Refinery in Alma.  Through the next 40 years he worked for Shamrock and Total as a Chief Operator.  He was the man in the know when ever any difficulties came up at the refinery, always knew what to do!   He retired from Total Petroleum in 1994.  During retirement, Tom and Sheila wintered in Zephyr Hills, Florida for 23 years.  He was known for repairing bicycles for many neighbors and working at the auto parts store.  Tom enjoyed playing cards, numerous camping trips on the AuSauble River canoeing, and 4-wheeling on the trails.  He loved riding his tractor every day!  Tom was a hard worker and an all around "good guy."

Thomas is survived by his wife Sheila Rempp of Elwell, 3 sons:  Douglas (JoAnn) Rempp of Salina, KS; Robert (Debbie) Rempp of Corpus Christi, TX; and David (Patricia) Rempp of Riverdale; 8 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.  He is also surrvived by 4 siblings: Mary Edlin, Byron Rempp, Margaret Irish, and Shirley Fisher; and many nieces and nephews.  Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Lee "Mike" Rempp, brother Bernard Rempp and sister Lilian Shattuck.
