Thomas Joseph 'Tom' Strachota, age 64, of Elsie, MI passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home, with his family by his side.

Funeral Services will be held at Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, MI on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Chuck Emmert, Minister officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. and on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI.

Thomas was born in Owosso, Michigan on April 12, 1951, the son of Joseph Anton and Agnes Jane (Vostrirancky) Strachota. He graduated from Chesaning Union High School with the class of 1970. Tom married Paula Marie Nethaway on August 1, 1981 in Owosso, MI.

Tom was most passionate about farming, he grew up on a farm in Chapin, MI and his heart remained with farming his entire life. He worked at Moore Iron Works in Owosso, MI for many years and was the proud owner of TPS Memories Engraved. Tom enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting and spending time up north at Breveort Lake, with his family and friends. Tom was always there to help his neighbors and family to tinker with projects they had. He was known for his humor and ability to talk to anyone and make people laugh. The love of his life was his family and grandchildren. Tom was very proud of his wife, three sons and the family he raised. He especially loved time with his grandchildren and giving them lawn mower rides. Tom attended the Duplain Church of Christ and was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Bannister, MI.

He is survived by his wife Paula Strachota of Elsie, MI, 3 sons; Tony and Korie Strachota of Ovid, MI, Joe and Julie Strachota of Saginaw, MI, Gerald Strachota of Elsie, MI, 3 grandchildren; Logan, Blake, and Camrin Strachota, mother Agnes Strachota of Chapin, MI, sisters; Elaine and Gary Azelton of Chesaning, MI, Joan and Charlie Guizak of Chapin, MI, Diane and Paul Bueche of Chesaning, MI, brother Donald and Kris Strachota of Saginaw, MI, mother in law Patricia Nethaway Sisson of Ovid, MI, 3 brothers in law; Robert and Val Nethaway of Ovid, MI, Bill and Tammy Nethaway of Owosso, MI, Glen and Barb Nethaway of Ovid, MI, and sister in law Kim and Brian Darling of St. Johns, MI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph, grandparents, father in law Gerald Nethaway, niece Katie Mardel Nethaway, nephew Jerry Nethaway, and step father in law Leonard Sisson.
