Trixie Patricia Ellen Johnston age 82 of St. Johns, Michigan died Saturday, September 02, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, St. Johns, Michigan on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Rev. Margery Schleicher will officiate and burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Cadillac, Michigan.
Trixie was born in Cadillac, Michigan on July 22, 1924 the daughter of Verner & Emma Katrina Olivia (Olson) Knapp. She graduated from Cadillac High School with the class of 1942 and resided in St. Johns area since 1965. She married David J. Johnston in Cadillac, Michigan on October 16, 1947 they have been married for 60 years.
She established and taught children at the Trixies Pixies school of dance for 40 years. Trixies Pixies dazzled Mid-Michigan with tap dancing, acrobatics and baton twirling performances. She was a member of the National Gymnastic Association and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Trixie was also a member of First United Methodist Church, St. Johns, Michigan where she enjoyed baking for celebrations at the church and her family.
Survivors include her husband, David J. Johnston of St. Johns, Michigan, 1 daughter, Veronica Johnston of San Francisco, California, 2 sons. David Johnston of Burlington, Iowa, Daniel & Brenda Johnston of Wayland, Michigan, 5 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Virginia Montague, Lela Gallagher, Delia VanBergen, 1 brother, Verner Knapp, a special friend, Cherie ( Beauchamp ) Wieber of Lapeer, Michigan.
She was predeceased by 1 daughter Patricia K. Johnston, June 2, 2004, Parents, 1 sister Dora Richardson. Memorials may be made to the St. Johns High School Band, St. Johns, Michigan in her memory.
