Vere Allen

Vere Fritz Allen age 89 of Ithaca, Michigan died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Rosewood Foster Care Home, Ithaca, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Shannon Nielsen will officiate with burial at Ithaca Cemetery Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. and Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Vere was born in Emerson Township on November 30, 1917 the son of Percy and Iva ( Razor ) Allen. He resided most of his life in Ithaca, Michigan and graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1935. Vere married Margaret Jane Rowe on December 5, 1938 at the People's Church Lansing, Michigan. Vere was a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Vere was a member of Church of God Alma, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Allen of Ithaca, MI, daughter Janice & Gerald Campbell of Ithaca, MI, son Jared L. & Janet Allen of Ithaca, MI, 4 grandchildren; Shari & Jeff Giles, Brent & Patty Allen, Amy & George Bingham, Shannon & Jessica Nielsen, 7 great grandchildren; Allison, Joshua, Kara, Tyler, Samantha, Luke, & Chloe, and 1 brother Nile Allen of Ithaca, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, and 1 brother Parks Allen.

Memorials may be made to Gratiot County Hospice or to a Charity of the Donor's Choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
