Vern Kingsbury

Vern Lee Kingsbury, age 74, of Lennon, MI passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at home with his family by his side, after a 10 1/2 year battle with multiple cancers.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Durand United Methodist Church, in Durand, Michigan. Pastors John Bailey and Paul Amstutz will officiate. Burial will take place in Yerian Cemetery in Venice Township.
Vern was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 10, 1935, the son of Leo and Naomi (Elkins) Kingsbury. He graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1953. Vern was a Master Sergeant in the Army National Guard with the 144th in Owosso from 1953 to 1961, where he was a certified sharpshooter. He married Mary Lou Smith on July 31, 1954 in Corunna, Michigan. Vern worked for GM in Swartz Creek at the parts division until his retirement in 1985 after 30 years of service. He farmed all of his life in the Lennon area. Vern enjoyed hunting deer, coyote, and fox. He resided most of his life in the Lennon area. Vern was a member of the Lennon Lions Club and also served on the Shiawassee County 4-H council. He coached the 4-H softball team for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Kingsbury, 3 daughters; Judy Wilson of Temperance, MI, Deborah and Juan Zuniga of Lennon, MI, Susan and John Klim of Lennon, MI, 7 grandchildren; John and Heidi Zuniga, Matthew, April Zuniga, Dustin, David, and Jona Wilson, Michael Klim, 3 great grandchildren; Sierra, Aunna, and Jaxon Zuniga, 1 brother LaVere and Donna Kingsbury, 1 sister Rosetta and Raymond Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and grandson Michael Robert Wilson.
