Vernon L. Schmidt age 82 of Corunna, Michigan died Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility Corunna, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church Owosso, MI on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Dr. David Russell will officiate with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery Corunna, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M.

Vernon was born in Greensburg, Kansas on July 7, 1924 the son of Frank and Lydia ( Jantz ) Schmidt. He resided in the Corunna area for 57 years He graduated from Greensburg High School. Vernon married Molly Cox on June 29, 1947 in Flint, Michigan. He owned and operated V.L. Schmidt Jewlery since 1958 before selling it to his son Steve in 1991. Vernon was a member of First United Methodist Church of Owosso, MI. He was active on committees and a past board member through the years.

He is survived by wife Molly Schmidt of Corunna, MI, daughter Nancy Bartel of Maumre, OH, son Dr. Frank Schmidt of Branson, MO, son Steve & Linda Schmidt of Corunna, MI, son Dan & Karen Schmidt of Perry, MI, daughter Carolyn & Tim Hess of Henderson, MI, daughter Marilyn & Mark Warren of Las Vegas, NV, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and sister Louise Collins of Corunna, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, and 1 brother Paul.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Owosso, MI. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
