Veronica Elaine McGinn, age 91, of Owosso, MI died on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Rose Gardens Assisted Living, Caledonia Township, MI.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 1500 N. Water Street, Owosso, MI. Pastor Calvn Long will officiate and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI and on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 12-1 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the church.
Veronica was born in Flint, Michigan on August 2, 1918, the daughter of Wells Hyatt and Mabel (Empy) Hutton. Her father was a minister. Elaine married LeRoy McGinn on June 8, 1946 in New Lothrop, MI. LeRoy passed away September 21, 1965. They had two children; Randy H. McGinn and Javene McGinn, both of whom have predeceased her. She is survived by one granddaughter Alexandra McGinn Kresojevich of Ann Arbor, as well as 4 nephews; Robert and Donna Robinson of Bay Port, MI, Neil and Barb McGinn of Clawson, MI, Gerald and Cathy Robinson of Owosso, MI, and Jim and Phyllis McGinn of Indiana, 2 nieces; Pat Crowell of Grand Blanc, MI, and Kathleen and Don Wyzlic of Harrison, MI, and many cousins.
Elaine worked in the office at Consumers Power Company for 25 1/2 years and for the Michigan Employment Compensation Commission for 7 years retiring in 1980. Elaine was a life member and an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Owosso. She participated and assisted in various church activities of the United Methodist Women until recent years. She was a member of ShiaABWA serving as President at one time, and receiving Woman of the Year. She was also a member of the Owosso Chapter of the General Federation of Women's Clubs and she attended the Baker College Conservatory.
Elaine treasured her many friends, particularly Gerald and Cathy Robinson, Linda Schmidt, whom she considered to be a daughter, Dr. Steven Hollister, Pat Selleck, and her dear neighbor, Leona Pollick. She was grateful for the fine care she received at Rose Gardens Assisted Living.
