Vesta Hess age 100 of Alma, MI died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, Michigan.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI, on Monday June 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Phil Maxwell will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. and for one hour prior to the service on Monday, June 2, 2008 from 10-11 A.M.

Vesta was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 26, 1908 the daughter Jay N. and Emma ( Johnson ) Harris. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1926. Vesta married Grant W. Hess on September 16, 1927 in St. Louis, Michigan. He died in 1969. She was a homemaker and she and Grant owned and operated Hess' Park Hotel & Hess Michigolden Duck Farms in Hemlock. She enjoyed ceramics and watercolor. She was a member of First Baptist Church St. Louis, MI as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Vesta is survived by a daughter, Marilyn & Jack Peterson of Bellaire, MI, son-in-law Dean Gould of Ada, MI, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 nieces. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter Joanne Gould, and a brother Victor Harris.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church St. Louis, MI or to Michigan Masonic Home, Alma, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel.
