Victor Y. Black age 68 of Henderson, Michigan died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Memorial Healthcare Center Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Friday, November 17, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie-Brown and Pastor Herb Wheelock will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2006 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Victor was born in Gideon, Missouri on January 15, 1938 the son of Floyd and Jewel ( Sedrick ) Black. He resided in the Henderson area since 1969. He graduated from Utley High School, Flint, MI with the class of 1956, and then he attended one year at Flint Junior College. Victor married Sandra L. Semmens on December 13, 1958 in Flint, Michigan. He retired from GTE in 1992 and he had worked for the Chapin Telephone Company as well as farming. He enjoyed his family and hunting and fishing. Victor coached Little League Baseball for many years. Victor attended Chapin United Methodist Church and formerly served on Centel Credit Union Board and Chapin Telephone Company.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Black of Henderson, MI, 2 daughters; Cindy Greene of Pantego, TX, Teresa & Doug Acre of Boon, MI, 2 sons; Vic & Sue Black II of Cincinnati, OH, Matthew & Debra Black of Boon, MI, 10 grandchildren; Randi, Tim, Melanie, Alex, Andrew, Jason, Randy, Megan, Kayla, and Ashley , 1 great grandchild Rori , 1 brother: Randy Brady of Lansing, MI, and step-father: Chester Dillman of Big Sandy, TN. He is predeceased by his parents.
Memorials may be made to Focus on the Family or the Chapin United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
