Virginia Thresa {Aldrich} Fernette, age 84, of Owosso, formerly of Corunna passed away Monday, September 22nd, 2008 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village, Owosso.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Thursday, September 25th at 10:00 A.M., Father John M. Fain will officiate.
Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery Owosso, MI.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday 6-8 P.M.. and on Wednesday from 2-8 with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI.
There will be a VFW Ladies Auvillary Memorial service Wednesday at 5:30 P.M. Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel, Corunna, Michigan
Virginia was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 21, 1924 the daughter of Rudolph Aldrich and Beatrice Harvey Aldrich {Collis}. On June 21, 1941 she married Arthur Francis Fernette in Owosso, Michigan. They were married for 59 years.
Virginia resided most of her life in Corunna, moving to Flushing about 22 years ago. She moved to Oliver Woods Retirement Village about 4 years ago. She was a member of St Pauls Catholic Church. Virginia also was a member of the Corunna VFW Post 4005 Auxiliary.
. Virginia was a homemaker for most of her life. During WWll she worked in Willow Run as a Rosie the Riveter and appeared in a newsreel supporting the war effort. She enjoyed her summers at Sage Lake as an avid fisherwoman. Virginia was also an accomplished quilter and embroiderer.
Virginia is survived by three daughters, Janie {Fernette} and Thomas McCartney of Corunna, MI; Jacqueline Fernette and David Pesel of Richland, WA; Janice Fernette and Ian Stewart of Old Church, VA; a son, Eric and Janet Fernette of Bellaire, TX; also six grandchildren: Andrew McCartney of Corunna, Craig and Erica Fernette of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff and Kyle Reamy of Bellaire, TX, Arianna Stewart of Old Church, VA, a sister, Sandra Collis Burke of Owosso; a brother, James Collis of Anaheim, CA.
She was preceased by her husband Arthur, one daughter Judith Ann, a sister Doris Irland and a brother Ronald Aldrich. Special friends to be remembered are Cecilia Chapin and Betty Bates.
