Virginia Hatta

Virginia Rose Hatta, age 78, of Ovid, MI passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid, MI on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes. A Rosary will be prayed on 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Virginia was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 14, 1936 the daughter of John and Frances Marie (Zubek) Surik. She graduated from Ovid High School with the class of 1955. Virginia married Andrew Hatta on November 23, 1957 in Owosso, MI. She resided most of her life in the Ovid area. She loved crossword puzzles, and loved to polka. Virginia loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Ovid, MI where she was very active volunteering with church activities.

Virginia is survived by her husband Andrew Hatta of Ovid, MI, daughter Eileen and John Brussolo of Ann Arbor, MI, son Thomas and Michelle (Jeffreys) Hatta of Laingsburg, MI, daughter Teresa and Robert Sutton of Northville, MI, 5 grandchildren; Alan Commet and Maia Brussolo of Ann Arbor, MI, McKenzie Hatta of Laingsburg, MI, and Casey Sutton and Parker Sutton of Northville, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.
