Virginia E. Skinner, age 101, of Owosso, MI passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Carleton Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday July 30, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Virginia was born April 28, 1911, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (Mitchell) Tobey in Owosso. She attended the Owosso Public Schools and graduated in 1931. On June 21, 1931, she married Earl E. Skinner in Owosso. He predeceased her on April 27, 1997, after nearly 66 years of marriage.

Virginia was a homemaker who loved to do for others. Over the years she made countless embroidered pillowcases for new brides and baby layettes for family and friends. She taught herself to crochet so that she could make baby blankets for overseas missions, lap robes for the veteran's hospital in Saginaw, and winter scarves for the Salvation Army. She was happiest when she was doing for others.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Mary (Robert) Johns of Owosso, grandchildren; Timothy (Carita) Trumble of Phoenix, AZ., Jo Trumble of Lansing, Troy (Nicole) Trumble of Minneapolis, MN, Valerie (David) Marvin of Lansing, great grandchildren; Samantha Trumble and Alexandria Trumble of Phoenix, AZ, Eric Trumble of Minneapolis, MN, a very special niece and nephew Beverly Beal of Lansing and Robert (Eileen) Tobey of Los Alamos, NM; and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, a daughter and son-in-law Olive and Ronald Trumble, great granddaughter Taylor Trumble, and her brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Eleanor Tobey.

The family would like to thank Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility for the tender loving care Virginia has received over the last 4 years.
