Virginia M. Starkey, age 81, of Laingsburg, MI died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at McLaren Hospital, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Edwin Snook will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. and on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel.

Virginia was born in Jerome, Pennsylvania on April 22, 1928, the daughter of Antonio and Edith (Burket) Prato. She was a restaurant & motel owner. She loved to do crafts, including Plastic Canvas, and enjoyed playing bingo at the senior center. She resided most of her life in the Mid Michigan area, and was a member of the Morrice Senior Center, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by 4 daughters; Shirley and Harold Wiseley of Laingsburg, MI, Marilynn Houpt of Aurora, CO, Rita and William Jones of Edmond, OK, Tina Dodson of Fremont, CA, 3 sons; Ernest and Deborah Dodson of Saint Petersburg, FL, Albert Dodson of Millersville, MD, George Dodson of Tucson, AZ, 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, 1 sister Alice Galley of Southgate, MI, and 1 brother Algie and Rosemary Prato of Grosse Ile, MI. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Dodson, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
