Virginia Szilagyi

Virginia I. Szilagyi, age 86, of Owosso, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 1:00 PM, Pastor Jan Moore and Pastor Kenneth Herbruck will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 6-8 PM & Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, MI.

Virginia was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 20, 1922, the daughter of Harold W. and Rhoda (DeLong) Inman. Virginia married Alexander Szilagyi on December 16, 1939 in Newport, KY. He passed away on December 5, 1994. Virginia resided most of her life in Owosso.

Virginia was very involved in her church the Owosso Good News Fellowship for the last 14 years. In previous years she was involved in the Owosso Eagles and the Corunna VFW where she served as a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary for both. She was also an avid bowler.

Virginia is survived by her sister Marjorie Powell of Owosso, MI, daughter June and Tom Goodman of Kalamazoo, MI, 3 grandchildren; Donald Lee Szilagyi II of Owosso, MI, Michael Miller of Flint, MI and Teri and Jim Heintz of Wixom, MI. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alexander, daughter Shirley Szilagyi, son Donald Lee Szilagyi and brother Leon Inman.
