Viva B. Thrush, age 91, of Alma, MI died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor George Showers will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverdale Cemetery Riverdale, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 10-11 AM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Viva was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on September 6, 1917, the daughter of Roscoe and Alice (Gary) Sanders. She attended Beebe Schools in Emerson Township and she was a lifelong resident of Gratiot County. Viva was one of 16 children. She loved gardening vegetables and flowers. She raised several foster children. Viva worked at Alma College in the kitchen and the Masonic Home for several years in the laundry department.

She is survived by 3 sisters; Louise Griffeth of Alma, MI, Lorraine Rowe of Alma, MI, Beatrice Byers of St. Louis, MI, 3 grandchildren; Brenda Reynolds of Laingsburg, MI, Terry Brown of Ithaca, MI, Rod Brown of Greenville, MI, 2 great granddaughters; Tiffany & Morgan Reynolds of Laingsburg, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, daughter Shirley Pouloskey, and 12 brothers and sisters.
