Vivian Somers

Vivian Helen Somers, age 86, of Elsie, MI passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Herb Wheelock officiating.  Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, MI.  Visitation will be held on  Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Vivian was born in Lakefield Township, Michigan on June 10, 1929, the daughter of John Glen and Lena Erva (Tester) Smith.  On April 17, 1949 Vivian married James W. Somers in Sickles, Michigan; Jim died on September 8, 2005.  Vivian was a homemaker.  She enjoyed quilting, baking, crafting and making maple syrup.  She resided most of her life on the family farm. Vivian was a 4 H leader, owner/operator of the Fenmore Roller Rink and a member of Chapin United Methodist Church, Elsie, MI.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Joyce Felton and Marvin Stoneman of Ashley, MI, Jane and Barney Unterbrink of Elsie, MI, Laurie and Greg Ringle of Elsie, MI, 2 sons; William and Sharon Somers of Elsie, MI, Doug Somers and Gayla Williamson of Bannister, MI, 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, grandson Jimmy, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
