Walter Brown

Walter Truman Brown age 91 of Owosso, Michigan died Monday, January 7, 2008 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Walter was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 20, 1916 the son of Benjamin and Wanda ( Adamski ) Brown. He resided most of his life in Owosso, MI and attended Owosso Public Schools where he was the 11th grade Class President. Walter married Lorena H. Schultz on October 20, 1939 in Owosso, MI. He retired after 30 years from Johnson Control where he worked as Plant Protection. He served as a delegate to the International Union, and he was Chairman of the Bargaining Committee for Local 117 for UPGWA. He enjoyed wrinting and had several short stories published. Walter was active in the PTA and served as CouncilPresident and chaired the Committee for New Schools in Owosso. He played fast pitch softball and played for several years at the old BennettFields. He spent a lot of time at their cabin on the lake and he ejoyed fishing, golfing, & reading. Walter was a member of Fields. UAW, served as Editor of the United Plant Guard, the nationally distributed newspaper of the plant guards union, and he helped organize the Owosso WBC Federal Credit Union.

He is survived by his wife Lorena Brown of Owosso, MI, sons; Terry & Glora Ann Brown of Owosso, MI, Mike & Gloria May Brown of Owosso, MI, Scott & Merry Brown of Perry, MI, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, son Paul B. Brown, grandson Mitch T. Brown, and brother Benjamin Brown.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Healthcare Home Care Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
