Wava L. Slavik age 80 of Ashley, Michigan died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at East Washington United Brethren Church, Ashley, Michigan on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Pastor Jerry Drummond will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 P.M. & Thursday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
Wava was born October 22, 1924 in Bannister, Michigan, the daughter of Manley & Florence ( Denno ) Nixon. She resided most of her life in the Bannister & Ashley area. She graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1943. On March 30 1946 she married David G. Slavik in Ashley, Michigan, David died September 14, 1997.
Wava was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, church and her farm. She was a member of East Washington United Brethren Church in Ashley.
Survivors include, 1 daughter, Amy & Craig Baker of Ashley, Michigan, 1 son, James & Doreen Slavik of Ashley, Michigan, 7 grandchildren Bryce, Wade, Lynnae, Garrett, Zachary & Hannah, Kylie, 1 sister Betty & Al Church of Perry, Michigan, 1 brother Manley & Frances Nixon of Sacramento, California. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 2 sisters & 3 brothers.
Memorial may be made to East Washington United Brethren Church, Ashley, Michigan.
