Wayne Donald Dawson age 84 of St. Louis, Michigan died on Friday, June 23, 2006 at Schnepp Healthcare Center, St. Louis, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate and burial will take place in Spencer Cemetery, Crystal Township, Michigan.
Wayne was born in Harrison, Michigan on May 3, 1922 the son of Alva & Mary Irene ( Bruce ) Dawson. He graduated from Gladwin High School with the class of 1940 and grew up in Gladwin until moving to St. Louis, Michigan 50 years ago.
On December 15, 1947 he married Joyce Smith in Kentucky. Wayne retired in 1984 from Consolidated Freightways, and had an avid interest in cars, and yard work. He loved his family & time spent in Florida. He enjoyed visiting & sharing stories with friends and neighbors and was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis, Michigan. He served his country in the US Army and was a proud WW2 Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Dawson of St. Louis, Michigan, 3 children, Steven & Kathleen Dawson of Leonard, Michigan, Deborah & Tom Ducham of Clare, Michigan, Tim & Cyd Dawson of East Lansing, Michigan, 4 grandchildren, Joshua Dawson, Ben Dawson, Michael Ducham, Stacy & Paul Smith, 2 great grandchildren, Ethan & Jonah Smith, 2 sisters, Ruth VanHorn of Ithaca, Michigan, Nola & Lyle McVay of Tampa, Florida, 1 brother, Maurice & Virginia Dawson of St. Louis, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister, Margaret & 1 brother Robert. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis, Michigan in his memory.
