Wellington Edward "Bill" Donahue, age 92, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Congregational Church UCC, Owosso, MI on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. James Eaton will officiate. Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery, New Haven Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday July 23, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel.
Wellington was born in New Haven Township, Michigan on March 29, 1918, the son of Hartley Burl and Eldred (Bricker) Donahue. Wellington graduated from New Lothrop High School, class of 1937. Wellington resided most of his life in Owosso.
Wellington married Laura Elizabeth Reid on April 22, 1939 in Chesaning, MI. Together they had 5 children. She passed away on March 26, 2005.
In his life time Wellington assisted working the family farm for a number of years as well as working 20 years for Borden Milk Dairy in Owosso, followed by 20 years with Midland Ross Corp., from which he retired. He loved hunting his entire life and baseball was the sport he followed when he could no longer play it himself. Wellington was especially fond of the Detroit Tigers.
Wellington is survived by his son John Donahue of Mayer, AZ, daughters; Opal and Gary Svarc of Oakley, MI, Laura and Robert Meiers of Owosso, MI, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 children; Billy & Janice Marie, brothers; John, Hartley, & Stanley, and sister Loretta Vincent.
