William Clarence Horsley, age 85, of Swartz Creek, MI passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Nathan's Place Assisted Living in Swartz Creek, MI.
A Celebration of William's life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso. Pastor Michael Prince will officiate. Visiting with his family will take place prior to the service from 11–1 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
William was born in Garfield, Kentucky on April 28, 1923. He was raised by the family of Jack & Amanda Stinson of the Corunna area. He resided most of his life in the Lennon and Beaverton areas.
He retired in 1974 after 32 years with Buick Motor Division in Flint. William served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II, serving in the Philippines. He was a member of the VFW Post #7303 in the Beaverton area. William was an assistant Boy Scout Leader in Lennon for several years. He was an avid bowler and card player. After retiring, William took up golf and scored a hole-in-one about 15 years ago.
William is survived by a daughter Carol and William Clark of Durand, MI, son LaVerne and Linda Anne Horsley of Carriere, MS, grandchildren; Daniel and Dorinda Clark of Owosso, MI, Steven Clark of Gaines, MI, Karen Horsley of Carriere, MS & Matthew Horsley of Carriere, MS, great grandchildren; Valerie Clark of Owosso, MI, Jonathan Clark of Owosso, MI & Joseph Clark of Gaines, MI and Dodie Horsley of Picayune, MS mother of Karen & Matthew Horsley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta and son, LaMonte Horsley.
