William Wallace Dennis

      William Wallace Dennis, age 80, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center, Alma, MI. 

      Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. 

     William was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 17, 1943, the son of Clifford Wallace and Mary Ann (Lacina) Dennis.

      Bill retired from Wolverine Shoe Factory after 23 years of service. 

After retirement he worked for Karen Stearns Recycling, Waste Management for 10 years and was a street crossing guard for Ithaca Public Schools for many years. He also mowed many lawns in the Ithaca area. Bill enjoyed bowling, playing euchre, going out on his pontoon boat and fishing. He had many dogs throughout the years and always loved the company of his faithful companions. He was an avid Detroit Tiger and Ithaca Yellow Jackets Fan. Bill loved his family and the time he spent with them was very important to him.  

     He is survived by siblings: Mary Jane (Donald) Luckhurst, Linda Bearup, Donald (Joette) Dennis, Rosemary (David) Bailey, Kathleen Woolner, and Janice (Larry) Long. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Mary Ann Dennis, and five siblings: Gerald (Wanda) Dennis, Noreen Dennis Hunnicutt, Beverly (Richard) Simmer, Thomas Dennis, Michael Dennis and nephews: David LeDuke Jr., Donald Dennis Jr., Michael Ozarowski, Joshua Thoma, and his dear friend Bea Munson.
