William Goetz

William A. Goetz age 83 of St. Louis, MI, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of the Lord Parish- Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with Rev. Fr. Nate Harburg officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI.  Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Funeral Home.

William was born in DeTour, Michigan on February 9, 1933 the son of Menard and Agnes Mae (McDonald) Goetz.  He was a graduate of DeTour Village High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  William married Elizabeth Lee on July 16, 1955.  He retired from Total Petroleum as an FCC Operator. He was a member of Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI also a member of the St. Louis VFW Post #3055 where he served as a Post Commander. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and camping.  William also coached Little League Baseball.  He and Elizabeth wintered in Arizona for 19 years.  William was an avid sports fan, watching all sports but loved baseball.

William is survived by his wife Elizabeth Goetz of St. Louis, MI, children; Sharolyn Goetz of St. Louis, MI, Gail and Denise Goetz of St. Louis, MI, Brenda and Doug Edgar of Alma, MI, Gary Goetz, of West Dundee, IL, son-in-law Scott Richter of Holland, MI, grandchildren; Toni, Shannon, Bryan, Lisa, Katie, Megan, Ashley, Douglas and Andy, great grandchildren; Gavin, Emily, Noah, Aiden, Venessa, Victoria, Brooklynn and Travis, sister Angela Barrette of DeTour Village, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janet Richter, granddaughter Amanda Richter, sisters; Virginia and Kathryn and brother Jag.
