William Hess

William Hess age 70 of St. Louis, Michigan died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be Monday, August 16, 2004 at 1:00 P.M.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2004 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Mr. Jack Collins will officiate and burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, Michigan.
William was born on August 23, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He resided most of his life in St. Louis and attended St. Louis Public Schools. On November 6, 1954 he married Viola Wrath in St. Louis, Michigan.
He was employed by the City of St. Louis as an equipment operator for the DPW. He retired in 1996. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He also liked to spend time with his family. William was a volunteer fire fighter in Aurora, Illinois for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Hess of St. Louis, Michigan, 5 children, Julie & Jim Putt of Ithaca, Michigan, Harold & Karen Hess of St. Johns, Michigan, Dawn & Bryan Polley of Sumner, Michigan, John Hess of Florida, Christine & Stuart Nowak of Harrison, Michigan. 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister Pauline Cerney of Alma, Michigan & several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sons Robert Lee & Billy Joe Hess, 3 grandchildren, Randy, Jennifer & Jason Polley.
Memorials can be made to the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
