William Lester "Bill" Mitchell

       Bill Mitchell was a man of few words but he always had a good one-liner and once you got him chatting, he would talk your ear off. Bill loved his family, geocaching, ice cream, snowmobiling and the Tigers. Bill enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the summer watching passersby and talking to the neighbors: especially Doug and Julie Schafer and Helen Tait. He always knew what was going on in town. Bill's family nicknamed him "Walk Away Bill" because he would often disappear, without letting anyone know, to geocache; people watch or get his steps in. To know Bill was to love him and he will be greatly missed.

     Bill lost his battle to cancer on May 21, 2022. Bill is survived by his wife Sheryl; sons: Damian (Jessica) and Austin (Heidi Roberts and Adrian); grandchildren: Nolan and Allyson; brother Bob; his sister Mary Luna (Dick) and many nieces, nephews and friends; especially Barb Wyne-Carley. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Peggy and siblings Judy, Mike, Pat and Carole.

    A Celebration of life will be held at St. John the Baptist Hall, 326 River Street, Hubbardston, MI 48845, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. with a luncheon immediately following. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. The family requests no flowers.
