William Powelson

William Arthur Powelson, age 86, of Ashley, MI went home to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel on Saturday, May 23rd at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery in North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 from 4-7 PM.

William was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on June 8, 1922, the son of George and Edith (Harrington) Powelson. He attended Breckenridge Schools. William married Martha Kaufman in St. Louis on December 8, 1946. William resided most of his life in Ashley. He worked as a supervisor for the Michigan Chemical Plant in St. Louis, and he also farmed. He served his country in the US Army during WWII, and was a life member of the Perrinton VFW Post. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and most of all spending time with them. He and his wife Martha attended the Ithaca Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Martha Powelson of Ashley, MI, son Dennis and Mary Powelson of Ashley, MI, daughter Linda and Stan Frisbey of Rosebush, MI, daughter Ruthann and Melvin Lehner of Dewitt, MI, 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
