William Six, Jr., age 81, of Alma, MI, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Saginaw V.A. Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, with Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare, MI.
William was born in Clare, Michigan on May 4, 1940, the son of William M. and Audrey Ruth (Walters) Six. He graduated from Clare High School with the class of 1958. William proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam War. On May 1, 2013, Bill married Robin L. Kirkey in Ithaca, MI and was welcomed in to the Kirkey family as one of their own.
Bill was a muscle car and motorcycle fanatic! At last count he had owned 154 cars and 52 motorcycles during his lifetime. Bill would say, "I collected them one at a time." Bill loved people. He was a fun loving guy who liked to make others laugh. He loved animals, especially his dogs. He was very artistic and would make model cars and planes from scratch.
Bill was a store manager for Giantway for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He then was a Letter Carrier for the St. Louis Post Office for 20 years, before his retirement in 2005. He said, “That he had walked around the world two times in his career with the Post Office.”
Bill is survived by his wife Robin, 5 children: William Six of TX, Angela Holliday of WY, Charles Six of WY, Jennifer Six of MI, and Damien (Shannon) Allen of MI; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his Kirkey family, several nieces and nephews and dear friends Dave and Deb Zimmerman. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Richard Six, one brother Howard (Vera) Six and sister Norma (Don) Harrison.
