William "Bill" Lowell Washburn age 57 of Corunna, Michigan died April 2, 2007 at Hurley Medical Center, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Christ Evangelical German Lutheran Church, Corunna Historical Village, and Corunna, Michigan on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor John Walworth will officiate with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery Corunna, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. and Thursday, April 5, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
William was born in Owosso, Michigan on April 13, 1949 the son of Clare William and Norabelle ( Bouck ) Washburn. He resided most of his life in the Corunna area and graduated from Corunna High School with the class of 1969 and attended Ferris State University and Mott College. He was a member of the DeMolay. In 1962 he became an active member of the Young Republican Club and was still serving the Republican cause up to his death. He was a present member of the Great Lakes SPANSFA and served as the secretary for several years.He was a former member of the Sons of the Union, charter member of the Corunna Historical Commission and is credited with securing most of the building in the Village. He was a Chairperson for the High McCurdy 100th year event. A former member of the Corunna /Caledonia Fire Department and was one of the first members of the Corunna Volunteer Ambulance Service. He served on the City of Corunna Council starting in 1970, being the youngest elected member at the age of 21. He served on the Pine Tree William was a member of Corunna/Caledonia Fire Department and was one of the first members of the Corunna Volunteer Ambulance Service. He served on the Pine Tree Cemetery Board and was always interested in all aspects of the City of Cournna politics. He had great enjoyment in restoration of antique fire trucks and cars. He was an avid historian of Shiawassee County, the Civil War, and the American Flag. In his ancestor genealogy searches he discovered that he was related to Presidents, Garfield ( Ballou), Harding ( Bouck ), and Bush ( Washburn ).
He is survived by his parents Clare & Norabelle Washburn of Corunna, MI, brother Jeff Washburn of Arizona, nieces Lindsay Washburn of Arizona, Lacey Stepenenko of Arizona, Kayla Washburn of Mt. Pleasant, MI, aunts Dorothy Washburn Kerscher of Owosso, MI Janet Walker Washburn of Owosso, MI, Doreen Graff Bouck of Owosso, MI and many cousins & friends. He is predeceased by his grandparents Lowell & Leeta (Whitesell) Bouck and Clare & Rilla (Ballou) Washburn.
