William Watson

William F. "Bill" Watson, age 80, of Alma, Michigan passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Pine River Healthcare Center, St. Louis, Michigan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Alma, MI on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Fr. Jules Spleet officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery Alma, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI.

Bill was born in Alma, Michigan on August 17, 1932, the son of Earl and Loretta (Kennedy) Watson. Bill married Patricia Koons on July 5, 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a rural mail carrier for the Alma U.S. Post office, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alma, MI.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Watson of Alma, MI, daughter Deborah Detzler of Alma, MI, granddaughters; Nicole Detzler and Steve Friend of Elwell, MI, Stephanie Detzler of Bonita Springs, FL, 4 great grandchildren; Dana, Breanna, Dylan and Olivia Friend, all of Elwell, MI, sister Barbara Mills of Midland, MI, brother Bob and Marie Watson of Haines City, FL, sister Ruth and Don John of Huntington Beach, CA, and sister-in-law Mary Watson of Lansing, MI. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin sons; Dale and Dean, infant daughter Diana Marie, 2 infant siblings, 2 brothers; Edward Watson and Bernie Watson, sister-in-law, Marie Watson and brother-in-law Murl Mills.
