Wilma Admire

Our beloved Wilma Nadine Admire peacefully transitioned to the protective and caring arms of our Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Wilma lived a happy and full life during her time on Earth. She was born on August 2, 1928 to her parents William Ray and Edna Dorthea Creel in Carol County Missouri. She grew up with four other siblings, her two sisters, Mary Jane Ditmar and Elizabeth "Libby" Hurd and her two brothers George Emil Creel and William "Bill" Ray Creel Jr. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her two sisters and her brother George. Her surviving brother Bill Creel lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Wilma's life was rich with a large and loving family. Wilma married and started her family with her husband Delbert Lester Admire. Wilma and Delbert were very active in their church where Delbert was a pastor and Wilma taught Sunday school classes, wrote the church bulletins and played the piano and organ for the worship services while also helping to transport children and adults to church.

In addition to her busy family and church life, Wilma also had a long and successful career at a time when most women stayed home and took care of the family. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years before retiring in March of 1984. Wilma was also a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers.

Delbert preceded her in death in March of 1998.

She is survived by her four children, Vicki Smith of St. Johns, Michigan; Dale Admire of Springfield, Missouri; Brian Admire of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Martin Admire of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wilma's family later expanded to include many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma is survived by all her grandchildren; Michelle [Smith] Corgan, Scott Smith, Keith Admire, Robyn Admire, Emily Admire, Mischa Long, Tim Admire, Amy Admire and Joshua Admire. Wilma is also survived by all her great-grandchildren Sam Smith, Emma Smith, Damian Admire, Alex Admire, Alyssa Long, Avery Long and Aiden Long.

She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and great grandmother during her life time and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her and especially by those who loved her.

The Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist in Centralia, Missouri and officiated by the Senior Adult Pastor with internment in East Lawn Cemetery in Mexico, Missouri will be in the spring to allow family and friends time to make travel arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice in memory of Wilma Admire.
