Wilma "Pudge" Ruby Deming, age 88, of Elsie, MI died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Carol Brown will officiate and burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel.
Wilma was born in Bannister, Michigan on June 28, 1921, the daughter of Lewis and Francelia (Cook) Walling. She graduated from Elsie High School and resided most of her life in the Elsie - Carland area. On December 6, 1941 Wilma married Leo Basil Deming in Roschester Colony, Duplain Township, Michigan. Wilma formerly worked at Redmond's in Owosso during the war and was a bookkeeper at Cerveny Jewelry Store. She loved to garden, read and do embroidery work, she also enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Wilma was a former Girl Scout Leader and served on the Girl Scout Council. She was a member of Carland United Methodist Church and the choir director there as well as a member of the Carland UMW.
She is survived by her husband Leo Deming of Elsie, MI, daughter Diane and Richard Mead of Brant, MI, 2 grandsons; Brian and Krista Mead of Ashley, MI, Chad Mead and friend Colleen Papa of Milwakuee, WI, 4 great grandchildren; Christian, Kayla, Peter, and Levi, and her sister Shirley and Ken Austin of Laingsburg, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, 1 sister & brother in law Lucile and Donald Wood.
