Wilma Gingrich

Wilma May Gingrich, age 79, of Elsie, Michigan, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Wilma was born in Elwell, Michigan on May 23, 1932, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Miller) Norris. She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1951 and resided most of her life in the Elsie area. On September 13, 1952 she married Gerald in Waterloo, Indiana; they just celebrated 59 years of marriage. Wilma formerly worked for AC Spark Plug in Flint, Michigan, Redmond's, and Wolverine Shoe Factory in Ithaca, Michigan. Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family, and sewing. She was an avid sports fan and athlete. Her favorite teams were the Detroit Tigers and U. of M.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Gingrich of Elsie, MI, 2 daughters; Brenda and Brian Acre of Alma, MI, Linda and Don Snelling of St. Johns, MI, 4 sons; Howard and Melanie Gingrich of Mount Sterling, KY, Chris and Sue Gingrich of Apollo Beach, FL, Russell and Rhonda Gingrich of St. Johns, MI, John Gingrich of Ithaca, MI, daughter-in-law Luann Gingrich of Ashley, MI, 16 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her youngest son Jimmy Gingrich, 1 sister Joanne, 2 brothers; Raymond and George, and 2 sisters in law; Shirley and Marjorie.
