Wilma Mae Stambersky

     Wilma Mae Stambersky, age 96, of Bannister, Michigan, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Ashley Care Center.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Michigan at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 21, 2024, with Mr. Thomas Bradley officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service, at the funeral home.
     Wilma was born in Bannister, Michigan, on May 28, 1928, the daughter of Barney and Mary (Malek) Cerny. She graduated from Bannister High School. She married Michael Stambersky on October 25, 1947, in Bannister, Michigan. Mike passed away on April 4, 2010.
     In Wilma’s early years she worked for Redmond’s in Owosso, and ITT Hancock in Elsie. She was a member of the ZCBJ #225 Lodge in Bannister, Michigan. Wilma enjoyed canning, working in her garden and going to the events and dancing. Her grandchildren brought her much enjoyment.
     She is survived by two sons: Gary and Ginny Stambersky and Michael Stambersky; three grandchildren; Susan and Kevin Dittrich, Jason and Hollie Stambersky, and Holli and Chuck Silk. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Jordan, Kayla, Madalin, Sophia, Ruby, and Jack; her brother Jim and Sue Cerny, and two sisters: Gladys Patrick and Mildred Chapko. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, one grandson Mark Stambersky, three brothers, and three sisters.
