Winifred Surato

Winifred "Winnie" V. Surato age 92 of Bay City, Michigan died Monday, February 11, 2008 at The Carriage House of Bay City.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Pastor William Stites will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 11:00 A.M until time of service at 2:00 P.M.

Winifred was born in Sand Lake, Michigan on August 6, 1915 the daughter of Archie and Elvina ( Hardy ) Sutton. She resided most of her life in Lansing graduated from Boyne City High School. Winifred married Doc Surato who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. Winifred was a jack of all trades and she could do anything she put her mind to, and she would do them with her whole heart. She was very spiritual, wise, and she taught patience. She was an excellent seamstress, carpenter and cook. Winifred went on an Alaskan adventure photographing wildlife. She drove the Alaskan-Canadian Highway, which was gravel, in a camper that she built. She spent her retirement in Hale, MI and her winters in Arizona, Texas and Mexico. She was a very giving person and thought of others before herself. To her life was an adventure.

She is survived by 2 sons; Austin Hall of Bay City, MI, Archie Hall of Hubbard, OH, step-daughter Marian & Mardy Bjork of Arizona, grandchildren; Pamela Wolthuis, Bradley Buck, April Pond, Austin Hall III, David Philpott, Susan Smith, step-grandchildren; Jamie, Charice, Paul & Joel , and several nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 1 daughter Dagny Buck, granddaughter Jody Lynn Buck, step-daughter Millie Stinson, 4 sisters, and 1 brother.

Memorials may be made to a Charity of the Donors Choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
