Winston R. Reynolds age 94 of Owosso, Michigan died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Brett Spadling and Rev. Duane Harris will officiate with burial at Maple River Cemetery Shiawassee Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2007 from 2- 8 p.m. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Winston was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 4, 1913 the son of Floyd and Nettie ( Rush ) Reynolds. He resided most of his life in Cheboygan, Howell, and Owosso, Michigan and attended Octagon School in Maple River, Shiawassee Township and graduated from Owosso High School in 1930. Winston married Thena Belle Hillis on September 24, 1936 in Corunna, Michigan. She passed away November 4, 2000. He worked for the U.S. Government Farm Home Administration in Cheboygan, Michigan; formed insurance and real estate agency in Cheboygan, Michigan; and was the agency manager for Citizen's Mutual Insurance Company in Howell, Michigan. Winston and Thena wintered in Florida at Lake Region Mobile Home Village in Haines City, Florida for many years. He collected rare and old books and wrote poetry in his retirement. He enjoyed all kinds of card games especially bridge. Winston was a member of Member of First United Methodist Church in Owosso, Michigan and associate member of the First Christian Church in Haines City, Florida. He was also a member of the Shiawassee County Historical Society; Shiawassee Senior Citizens Bridge Club, Men's Bridge Club, Maple River Cemetery Board, and the Wagoners of Winter Haven , FL.
He is survived by his son Richard & Elaine Reynolds of Owosso, Michigan, daughter Stonna Rae & Dick Spalding of Thompsonville, Michigan, grandchildren Pastor Brett & Kathy Spalding of Ludington & Thompsonville, Michigan, Kurt Spalding of Quincy, Michigan, David & Sue Spalding of Quincy, Michigan, Beth Reynolds of Georgetown, Pennsylvania, Dr. Kristen & Ed Sanford of Poway, California, Judy & Paul Swaner of Lancaster, California, great grandchildren; Kristen, Patrick, Tyler, Breeanne & Kaitlin Spalding, Andrew, Madelyn & Nicholas Sanford, Gus Swaner, and special friend Ann Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is predeceased by his parents Floyd and Nettie (Rush) Reynolds, wife Thena Belle, infant son Floyd Charles, and sister Dorothy Buzek.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Owosso, Michigan or Lake Region Village Memorial Fund, Haines City, Florida. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Home, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI
