Zelma Simmons

Zelma Maxine Simmons, age 85, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at her home.
A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held on December 9, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI.
Zelma was born in Woodhull Township, Michigan on September 3, 1926, the daughter of Earl and Vivian (Hart) Woodbury. Zelma resided most of her life in in Owosso Township and was a graduate of Laingsburg High School, Class of 1945.
Zelma and Clinton, Jr. were married on March 23, 1946 in Laingsburg. He passed away on January 24, 1966.
Zelma worked in the cafeteria of Owosso High School, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed visiting her cottage at Black Lake. Zelma loved working in her yard, which she spent many hours doing. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church Owosso, MI
Zelma is survived by her granddaughter Lori and Robert Rodgers-Roll of Cheboyghan, MI; granddaughter Terese and Frank Essex of Elsie, MI; granddaughter Jodi Simmons of Chesaning, MI; grandson Clinton Simmons of Chesaning, MI; 4 great-grandchildren Wyatt, Jacy & Travis Essex, Morgan Simmons; son-in-law Terry Rodgers of Laingsburg, MI; daughter-in-law Brenda Simmons of Chesaning, MI; brother Erwin and Joy Woodbury of Bancroft, MI.
Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Eva Woodbury husband, son Jay Simmons and her daughter Jill Rodgers.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Shiawassee County 4-H.
